Hello everyone, this is Dr. Ghossein with you on blog 9. Immigration.
I would like to share my observations on the present Canadian government's immigration policies:
The same Prime Minister who praised Castro, the same Prime Minister who praised the Chinese regime, is the one who publicly said " Refugees are Welcome", opening the flood gates to all, to come up, resulting in thousands answering the call of our PM. The surprising fact is that; non of them came to the official border crossings, as if they were trained by someone to come to illegal points of entry, trained on what to say when stopped by the Canadian authorities, trained on how to avoid becoming subjects to the Third Safe Country Agreement, in this case the US., to where all of them could be returned.
The government of Canada until this moment did not deal with that situation, I ask, like you do, why is that?
When the Minister of Immigration was asked, why not declare the entire border a port of entry?
his answer was; we can not police the entire border. The government does not need to man the entire border, they are the legislators, they make the law, they introduce bills, and being the majority they can pass these bills, such as declaring the entire border an official entry point, then whoever enters from anywhere along that border without the proper legal entry documents, will be dealt with under the safe third country agreement. For some reason, the government did not consider this possibility. Again I ask why is that?.
I know some of you are lining up to read your prepared standard statement, used whenever some one dares touching the subject of immigration, or any other subject dealing with the fundamentals that make this country what it is.
To these hired hands who camouflage the real issue with divisive propaganda, these individuals that are ready to call me; Anti immigration, right wing fascist, red neck, heartless, racist, and on downwards from there I say; Not this time, and at the risk of offending your masters, you will have to change your prepared statement, and the adjectives you use, for they do not apply to me.
I am an immigrant, pro immigration, the legal one that is, I am not a racist, for I have endured racism at the hands of the few rotten apples, from the highest levels and down.
These few rotten apples exist, they are out there, and they are the exception, so when you brand people with your preconceived insults, I would suggest you direct them to this minority group, which is not unlike you a fringe benefit self interest group.
The mistake made by this insolent group is; the intentional omission of a three letter syllable; ILL, or NOT, I would urge them to make the clear distinction between the words; Immigration, and Illegal or Not Legal Immigration,
I applied to come to Canada, and I waited for long time to obtain my visa, my brother and his family applied and waited for very long time to get their visas, my other brother and his family applied and waited for more than 10 years to obtain their visas, Thousands like us have applied, waited and waiting in line to be granted or refused entry to Canada. This is how it's done, this is how this country was built, no short cuts, no stepping over the rules to serve special interests, and ideologies.
Lots of flaws in the system, from conditions of eligibility, to the question of family reunification.
The crucial problem here is; trying to get politicians to open this subject, let alone changing it, obviously it will cost political parties votes, consequently seats.
Remember this; the party that is willing to look into that problem and make changes that are in the best interest of Canada, is the party that deserves to govern. and Remember, Illegal immigration does not follow any systemic or regulated premise. Hence no platform is provided for any illegal entry, where tax payers money is waisted on hearings etc. You enter illegally, you're taken bags still packed, straight to the bus, taxi, or aeroplane, and immediately deported.
Just announcing this rule will convince many not to attempt illegal entry, a rule that is the antithesis of "Refugees Welcome". And do not mix genuine refugee claimants with illegal entry.
My old friend BR, here is getting inpatient, He is telling me; You Talk, talk, talk, what are you going to do about it?
OK BR. Stay tuned in blog 10. I will introduce some suggestions on our legal immigration system.
