Hello everyone. This is Dr. Ghossein again. As they have asked for thousands of years in one corner of the Ancient Land; How is your colour today?
Welcome to blog 7, I will proceed from blog 6, on the issues and situations in countries around the world, issues that our present government and minister of foreign affairs might feel the need to meddle in, or assist with.
6 - Saudi Arabia:  War in Yemen; which according to the Saudis was fuelled by Iran's ambitions and interference in the affairs of countries with Shea Muslim presence, including Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, and places where small Shea communities exist, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. Imminent danger to the Saudis, and their status as a regional power;
Saudi Arabia will have to compete with Turkey to maintain its status as a regional power, and protector of the interests of Sunni Muslims, signalling to the Turks to keep their ambitions away from the Arab World. Remember, where ever Iran goes, Russia is right behind it pushing, and where ever the Saudis go, the US. is backing their moves.

7 - The Near East: A volatile region, an active man made volcano, where;
 - Iraq: Is on the verge of being rebuilt as a federation with, the Kurds autonomous in the north, and Canada is training their fighters(Turkey and Iran strongly oppose that), a central government dominated by Shea Muslims influenced by Iran, the Sunnis have a tertiary status after dominating the government for years, and the Christians have endured many massacres, to almost entirely being pushed out of their own country.
- Syria: At the end of a civil war; Total chaos, but it will be rebuilt as a Russian/Iranian military base in the region, which will force Israel to protect itself using the occasional air strike to destroy Russian/Iranian military installations, and that may lead to an all out war which will definitely involve the super powers.
- Israel: Nuclear capability; Its fear of being at anytime invaded and its people pushed into the sea, a threat more rhetorical than realistic, for its execution with the slightest sucsess is an impossibility.
- The Palestinians: Their future in the balance; Stateless people, they need help attaining statehood, but first they need to: Admit to themselves, that Israel is here to stay; they must realise once and for all, that the cause of their unfortunate situation is, the interference of those claiming to help; Palestinians must unite under one leadership; They must recognise the state of Israel; They must leave the empty rhetoric of yesteryear in the past; Palestinians will have to take a pragmatic look around and see that, there is no other way, they must become the masters of their own destiny, they must put an end to the practise of others collecting money and negotiating on their behalf. For once they have an opportunity, they must take advantage of it, and not let others take advantage of them anymore. I can tell you with the utmost certainty that the Palestinians are the most abused people by their own kind on this planet, this injustice must conclude in a fair manner .

- Lebanon: A country that is being pulled in many directions, but it is still together, for the majority of Lebanese have realised the hard way, the meaning of loyalty to a sacred land; Lebanon is home to more than 2 million Syrian  refugees and one million Palestinian, (a country of 4 million); A country riddled with corruption; A State held captive by one armed group called the Party of God undermining all government institutions, armed to the teeth by Iran under the pretext of fighting the enemy, What enemy one asks? when hundreds of them are dying in Syria, and the territorial disputes of Lebanon are only with Syria.

8 - North Africa: Totalitarian regimes; Fundamentalist movements; Poverty; Corruption; Internal conflicts; Human rights violations; Bases for terrorism and all that is illegal.
9 - West Africa: Poverty; Corruption; Human rights; Health problems; Terrorism (Bokko Haram);
10 - Central Africa: Corruption; Poverty; Human rights; Internal armed conflicts; Health; Dictatorships; Terrorism (Bokko Haram);
11 - East Africa: Droughts; Famine; Poverty; Corruption; Weak central governments; Terrorism; Lawlessness; Internal armed conflicts (Al Shabab in Somalia and Kenya); Health. Dictatorships; etc.

Europe other than Russia:
12 - Eastern Block: Some remnants from the era of Soviet hegemony; Religious and ethnic conflicts; Concerns about Russian muscle flexing and antagonistic moves, parallelled by Russian concerns about the west's intentions, hence a militarised zone.
13 - Britain: Brexit; Immigration; A super power, a true democracy, its responsibilities to the Commonwealth nations and the rest of the world.
14 - France: Immigration; As a super power and a true democracy, its responsibilities to the French Family of nations, and the rest of the world.
15 - Germany: Immigration; Responsibilities to the rest of Europe.
16 - The rest of the European Union: Economic problems; some with ethnic conflicts; the fact that Germany is footing the bills for many of them.
17 - The United States of America: Being the leader of super powers, and a true democracy, its responsibilities to the entire planet; keeping the balance of power in order to keep the peace.
18 - Central & South America, and the Caribbean: Dictatorships; Poverty; Health; Corruption; Internal Conflicts; Migration; Crime; frequent unrest, etc.
These issues above, the ones below, and many more situations exist, and lots are born every minute around the planet. The question is, can our present government deal with all this, and maintain a firm hand on the internal affairs of Canada? I think not, and this would be the proper time for our present government to change its look on the world, change its ideological approach, get back from a Utopian state into a realistic one.
19 - India: Nuclear power; Poverty; Religious and ethnic tensions; Kashmir conflict with Pakistan, extremely dangerous.
20 - Pakistan: Nuclear capability; Shaky democracy; Fundamentalism; Terrorism; Religious persecutions; Ethnic conflicts; Corruption; Poverty; Kashmir; a very dangerous zone, could explode at any moment between India and Pakistan.
21 - Japan: Land and water territorial disputes with Russia, who is flexing its muscles around contentious issues and disputed areas around the world.
22 - Philippines: Shaky democracy; corruption; poverty; internal conflict (Abou Sayyaf group), China; US. military bases; etc.
The list goes on.
From personal observations based on my political science and international relations studies, my work with international organisations dealing with refugees, religious and ethnic persecution etc. and as a diplomat, I can assure you that; in any negotiations especially international ones, the success is mainly due to:
a - A good personal rapport between the leaders (if they like each other, compromise is easier to reach), b - full understanding of what the other side wants, c - knowledge of the issues, d - in depth knowledge of who the other side is; e - Mutual Respect, because lecturing, preaching, our way is better than yours etc., these notions have no place in international relations, for they are a death warrant for any discussion.

With this blog 7. I will conclude the series on present Canadian foreign affairs, however the file will remain open, for as you know foreign affairs is closely connected to other portfolios such as; immigration, international trade, defence etc.
In blog 8, I will offer my observations on finance which  deals with government spending, etc.

Now, as my old friend B.R. who had difficulties with Spanish used to say Ados for now.
